A Saturday Well Spent

This morning I listened to a lecture by Dr.Veronica Devall. The lecture was about the importance of conditioning our little athletes. She is a vet that specialises in Chiropractic/Accupuncture/Chinese Medicine and the things that go along with that. Wicca saw her last year when she had her shoulder injury. The lecture was really great, and I think our students all left understanding a bit more about their dogs and the importance of being fit.

After that I had to stick around all day- and what a better time to groom Boone? He was very lucky that the lights wouldn't work in the tub room so he was saved the trauma of a bath and blowdry. He did however have to stand while I brushed, and brushed, and brushed some more. He had SO much hair. I say had because I cut most of it off. I couldn't stand it anymore. Brushing every day is not something I have the time or inclination to do. And with his weird cording coat it was a bit of a nightmare.

After the brushing I thought i'd get a little creative with the grooming. I think he looks super cute. I can tell by the looks I got from my friends that they disagree, but i think he is cute. You will all have to wait until I take some photos. :) Trust me. He's cute.

Wicca spent the day resting. She is still tired but is doing awesome. She has spunk back and I would say she is on the mend. She has a few more days of medication, and I will start to reintroduce kibble tomorrow.

And speaking of tomorrow...We are going to calgary to try for the last leg of Pixel's CD. I am feeling pretty optimistic- I think we've overcome the trauma of the tight leash, well at the very least she has learned that it's not a big deal. Pixel is incredibly stubborn. Which is funny because she mostly is very biddable. But once she gets something in her head you can't change her mind. It's funny. In any case I think she will do great tomorrow. The building is much smaller, and it will be a quieter atmoshphere. More like a training session- cross your fingers!

Off to a rescue meeting in a little while and them home to chill with the dogs. Maybe I will video Vito's new tricks....

I used to see an acupuncturist that treated dogs. I know how it helped me with whatever, so it certainly should be used on dogs (or other animals in need).

Good luck to Pixel tomorrow!
