Be Careful what you feed.....
FDA confirms that Nutro suspected as cause of death and illnesses spanning the last two years...
I have been feeding Acana Pacifica for about two years now, and have been pretty satisfied. But I am going to switch to Now! Grain Free Chicken formula. Not for any other reason than I think it's time to switch it up a bit...
Dog food is a scary thing...and for many a very touchy subject.

That is why i prefer to hunt for my food LOL!! or buy it already dead and bloody ... this coming from a Vegetarian ....
Does Now! do a fish or venison something not poultry?
I also feel so much safer feeding raw because I know exactly what the dogs are getting to eat.
I fed nurto years ago, and LOVED it back then. It was a very good food, and my dogs looked great on it. I also used to suggest it to clients.
They sold the company, and within a couple month, I changed ingredients, because it was quite obvious quality had taken a huge nosedive.
After the last big recall, I wrote them to tell my background through them (Having run training classes, and suggested nutro as a good kibble to my clients), and they promptly called me, and sent me a couple free bag coupons which I tossed.
It was a big shame when they went downhill, and then a bigger shame when Canidae went downhill. This is why IMO if you feed a kibble, no matter the kibble, you need to be UTD with the manufacturer, and even watch their websites. When Canidae did their big change, it wasn't printed on the bags, simply posted on their website. Ick!
Oh and also I should note, I used to be a Nutro rep! LOL This was back when I was still in highschool, as a side job after school.
Even now, their old ingredient listing wasn't so great, but 10+ years ago, it WAS the best available, and dogs I knew did really well on it. Had they kept up with the times, and kept up on quality, they could still be very well off as a company. Shame on them for ruining a good thing, and hurting families while they were at it.
Know anyone who feeds Medical Vegetarian? I have 2 (opened) bags of it that my daughter was going to toss out...
Several fellow breeders in our area have gotten together and done a lot on research on kibble. Most are now feeding Kirkland (from Costco) or Nature's recipe. I like the Nature's recipe because it is glutton, corn and beef free. My dogs love it. They all have shiny coats and I do not have trouble managing their weight. Better yet - it is cost effective. You can find it at Tractor Supply or your Local feed store.
