Vito's Life Lessons
Week 19/52
Memories are the only way to heal heartache, so create a lot of them (especially ones with icecream!)
Today Sarah's little dog Janie would have been 13. She died only a few short months ago and it has been very hard for her owner, aswell for everyone who loved Jane.
Every year on Jane's Birthday Sarah would take her for an icecream cone. Today, in Honor of Jane it was suggested that we maintain that tradition. This evening Vito and I headed to Dairy Queen and he could not believe his good fortune. lol. I let him eat the whole thing.
I got a lot of great photos- but this is the one that had the most emotion- well at least the emotion that goes with my story.
The moral of the lesson- create as many memories as you can with your dog- because at the end that's all we have. This memory that Sarah created not only helped to get her through the day, but made us all smile a little.
Vito thinks this should become a national holiday. lol. And happen more than once a year. ;)

Oh Vito. How you crack me up. I love that wrinkled nose!
Great memories! Great laughs for all of us readers LOL!!!! Thanks!
Love today's theme....having just lost one of our corgis...what you said hit home and we're glad we made memories with him. He'll live forever in our hearts.
Thanks Amanda.
OH! My dogs wish they had known about this tradition. They would have loved to participate.
that is a very important message Vito :)
What a great idea! The photos are so evocative of dogs having a great time that I'm afraid I'm going to have to take mine out very soon for ice cream cones. I doubt that they've ever had one.
Agreed, on all counts.
