Swimming Lessons

The only one of my dogs to actually swim out and get a toy is Wicca. I've lost plenty toys when it goes just a bit too far and the dogs are like- no way, you go get it. So I end up either going back to the car to get Wicca, or watching as the toy drifts farther and farther away.

So today I took Brit and Pixel to the lake and worked with both of them to get them swimming out to a toy and bringing it back. I went in with them we worked on going farther and farther out until they were both reliably fetching regardless of how far it went.

We all had a lot of fun- I got to cool off, and Brit and Pixel had a great time running around and playing in the water. I'm excited to go back tomorrow with the boys. I'm guessing their lesson won't be so well received. lol.

Both Brit and Pixel look super clean and fluffy now too so it will look like I actually bathed my dogs by the time the week is done. Yay for swimming. ;)

And I thought to take my camera so there are even photos of the event!

This is how Fetch in the water usually goes with Pixel...
Brit goes out to get it and brings it back

Pixel steals it as soon as she can touch

and the princess steals it...

Swimming.

More??

OMG I'M GONNA DROWN...

Concentrating.

Brit tried to steal the toy... Corgis do not share well.
Two happy, wet dogs. :)

fantastic!!! i love it when dogs swim, my last dog deefa loved swimming, he would swim just for fun without even having a toy. stormy has only swam once so far and thats cos he fell in by accident, but hey maybe one day he might fancy it xxx

It's hard to imagine dogs that need to be coaxed to swim....It takes effort to keep my guys OUT of the water. Jimmy will go out and swim in circles w/o a toy!

Bahaha, I absolutely love the "Oh my god, I'm gonna drown!" photo. Rufus gets this face when he's gone too deep and his little feet aren't touching ground anymore.
