Oh I don't know about hamsters, but training rats (Who're smarter, and more eager to please), is like trying to train an absented minded Siberian Husky, with alzheimers.
They're REALLY smart, and can be food driven/driven to please, but they have to be CONSTANTLY redirected. "Ooooo! SHINY!"

... gosh, maybe I have a new selling point on dwarf hamsters. ;)
There's also agility RATS! Jezze, one of my past girls, was excellent at it... but since having a kid, I've had no time to train ratties ;0P

Never saw that before - it is great!!! Wonder if I could teach my pet rats to do the same thing!
